The Battle of the Marne, fought in September 1914, became the decisive moment of the First World War. French and British troops were able to halt the rapid advance of the German army, thus thwarting the plan for a quick victory. This clash, later referred to as the 'Miracle on the Marne', marked the end of the manoeuvre phase of the conflict and the transition to a long and gruelling trench warfare. Soldiers on both sides then fought in their original uniforms from the beginning of the war, with their distinctive helmets, equipment and heavy machine guns playing a vital role in the battle.
The 1/35th scale ICM set features detailed figures of German, French and British soldiers in combat poses. Included are the German MG08 machine gun crew and the British machine gun team with Vickers, as well as infantry in conventional armour. Authentic details of uniforms, equipment and weapons are true to the 1914 period, allowing realistic scenes of the early months of the war to be constructed. Thanks to the dynamic positions of the figures, the set is suitable not only for individual assembly, but also for creating dioramas depicting dramatic scenes of the Battle of the Marne.
The package does not contain the paints or glues needed for assembly.
