During the Second World War, the use of so-called railway vehicles - ordinary trucks adapted for movement on rails - became widespread in Germany and other countries. These improvised vehicles provided material transport, patrols and communications services, especially on sidings or in devastated areas where conventional rail transport was limited.
The model depicts a 1.5-ton AA-type truck, equipped with railway wheels and the necessary accessories for operation on rails.
