During the Second World War, the German Field Gendarmerie (Feldgendarmerie) served as a military police and inspection service. Its members monitored the movements of units, directed traffic, checked documents, guarded roads and manned checkpoints both in the rear and near the front line. A distinctive feature was the metal breastplate (Ringkragen) worn on a chain. A checkpoint with a barrier, signage and a guardhouse was a typical feature of German roads and provides a rewarding subject for diorama modelling, as it combines vehicles, figures and scenic accessories into a single composition.

Among the vehicles included in the set is the 3.6-36S lorry, a type of lorry used by the Wehrmacht to transport troops and equipment, and the Kfz.1 Type 170VK, a light off-road passenger car derived from the civilian Mercedes-Benz 170, used for liaison, reconnaissance and command purposes. The combination of both vehicles accurately captures the day-to-day operations at a checkpoint, where heavier goods vehicles would encounter lighter service vehicles.

This MiniArt BIG SET kit in 1:35 scale is designed to provide everything needed to create a complete diorama. In addition to the two vehicle models, it includes five Feldgendarmerie figures and scenic elements – a sentry box, a road barrier, traffic signs and a telegraph pole – which help to create the atmosphere of the checkpoint. The included diorama base allows you to assemble the finished scene without the need to source additional accessories. Photo-etched parts and a sheet of decals are also provided. Paints and adhesives are not included in the pack.
