1/35 Kugelblitz Flak Panzer IV (MK103 Doppelflak 30mm) - Border Model
Border Model 1/35 Kugelblitz Flak Panzer IV (MK103 Doppelflak 30mm) is a model of an experimental self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon based on the Panzer IV tank chassis. This unique machine was armed with a pair of MK103 30mm cannons in a fully enclosed spherical turret. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Kugelblitz was one of the most interesting prototypes of German self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicles developed at the end of World War II. The design was based on the proven Panzer IV tank chassis, on which a special spherical turret with a pair of 30mm MK103 guns was installed. With a fully enclosed turret, it provided better protection for the crew than previous open Flakpanzer types such as the Wirbelwind or Ostwind.
The armament, consisting of MK103 rapid-fire guns, was effective against both low-flying Allied aircraft and lightly armoured ground targets. The Kugelblitz, however, was only in the prototype and limited test production stage, and made only a limited contribution to combat and could no longer influence the course of the war. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most impressive examples of German efforts to modernize the air defense of armored units.
The Border Model 1/35th scale kit offers a detailed rendition of this unique prototype. The model is meticulously crafted, with finely engraved surface details and realistic construction features, providing an ideal basis for creating an attractive collector's piece or diorama.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
