Pz.Beob.Wg. IV Ausf. J (Panzerbeobachtungswagen) was a special observation and command variant of the German Panzer IV tank, created by modifying the Ausf. J. This machine was intended primarily for the control and coordination of artillery fire. It had modified equipment, including additional radios, and was fitted with a dummy gun to retain the appearance of a conventional battle tank. On the battlefield it was used mainly in cooperation with heavy artillery and self-propelled howitzers.
