The Panzerkampfwagen IV was one of the most important German medium tanks of World War II, produced from 1937 until the end of the war. The final production version, the Ausf. J, introduced in 1944, featured a simplified design to speed up production and increase reliability. Vehicles of this variant served on all fronts, primarily on the Eastern Front and in the defense of Germany on the Western Front.
