Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) in the Ausf. G was the most numerous type of German assault gun produced in World War II. The variant from December 1944 to March 1945, produced by MIAG, was characterized by late modifications such as flat shields, reinforced armour and some standardized design features. StuGs were deployed during this phase of the war both in defensive battles on the Eastern Front and in attempts to halt the Allied advance in the west.
