The T-54-1 was the first variant of the famous Soviet T-54 medium tank, which became the mainstay of many nations' tank armies during the Cold War. The -1 version entered production shortly after the end of World War II and featured a massive rounded turret and design features derived from the T-44 and IS tanks. Although it was soon superseded by improved versions, it laid the foundation for the most numerous tank series produced in the 20th century.
