1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat early cowling and cooling flaps (closed)

The Grumman F6F Hellcat was one of the most successful fighter aircraft of the US Navy during World War II. It was designed as a response to Japanese fighters, notably the Mitsubishi A6M Zero, and its combination of performance, durability, and maneuverability made it a dominant force in Pacific air combat. The F6F-3 was the first production version to enter service in 1943, and quickly gained a reputation as a reliable and effective machine capable of taking the initiative over the enemy. For modellers, the Hellcat is an iconic type with clean lines and a characteristic massive fuselage that offers scope for detail work and weathering appropriate to the naval environment.

The Aires add-on set is designed to enhance the detail and historical accuracy of the 1:48 scale F6F-3 Hellcat plastic kits. The kit includes a resin engine cowling and closed cooling flaps to match the early production run of the aircraft. These parts replace the standard plastic components and provide a finer surface texture, more accurateand better rendering of the actual proportional details of the engine section. The closed cooling flaps match the aircraft's configuration on the ground or in steady flight, expanding the model's presentation options.

Working with the resin kit requires basic experience - the parts must be cleaned of casting block residue before assembly, the mating surfaces sanded for accurate seating and a suitable adhesive (e.g. Resin allows finer features than conventional plastic, but is more brittle and sensitive to mechanical stress, so careful handling is recommended. The result is a visually superior and more historically faithful engine section that will stand out especially when detailing and highlighting panel lines.

The set is compatible with common F6F-3 Hellcat 1:48 plastic kits (e.g. Eduard, Hobby Boss, Tamiya). Requires basic kit, glue and paint, which are not included. Suitable for advanced modellers.
