1/48 JUNKERS F13 WITH WINTER SKI. EARLY PROD

The Junkers F 13 made history in 1919 as the world's first all-metal transport aircraft. Designed by Professor Hugo Junkers, this single-engine monoplane revolutionised civil aviation by using duralumin construction and corrugated sheet metal to provide strength and light weight. The aircraft had a capacity of four passengers and a pilot, and although it was built shortly after the First World War, it was able to offer a level of safety and comfort that set a new standard for commercial air travel.

The machine soon spread around the world and found use with many airlines in Europe, America and Asia. It was deployed on short domestic routes as well as on longer routes, and was renowned for its reliability in various climatic conditions. A variant equipped with a winter ski undercarriage allowed operation in the snowy regions of northern and eastern Europe, Scandinavia or Siberia, where the aircraft was appreciated for its durability and ability to operate even in difficult terrain.

Early production versions of the Junkers F 13 had smaller cabin dimensions and simple equipment, but it was these machines that played a key role in the establishment of the first regular civilian routes. Their importance extended beyond the interwar period, as they formed the basis on which Junkers and other manufacturers built modern transport aircraft.

This 1/48 scale MiniArt kit depicts an early production version of the F 13 with skid landing gear. It features detailed work on the fuselage, wings, cabin and characteristic corrugated sheet metal. The high level of detail makes it suitable for solo display as well as dioramas with civilian or interwar themes.

The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
