The MiG-21SMT was one of the advanced versions of the famous line of Soviet supersonic fighters that dominated the skies during the Cold War. The SMT version appeared in the late 1960s and was characterized in particular by an enlarged backbone tank, which gave it a longer range, and upgraded avionics. Although it had limited deployment due to poorer handling, it remained an important phase in the development of the series.
