1/48 P-38J Lightning double-sided mask for Tamiya
ASK masks for the Tamiya Lockheed P-38J Lightning in 1/48 scale are double-sided. EXTERIOR and INTERIOR sections cover the glazing of the central nacelle inside and out.
ASK derived the shape and size of each mask straight from the clear parts of the Tamiya P-38J Lightning kit in 1/48 scale, so the set is its own design. Sheet ASK 200-M48069 from the SCALE MASK range is divided into an EXTERIOR section with masks 1–22 for the outer side of the glazing and an INTERIOR section with masks 23–41 for the inner side. They are complemented by the small round masks 42 and 43 and large circular masks at the top of the sheet. The one-sided version is 200-M48068.
The P-38 Lightning served with the USAAF in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Pacific; Richard Bong, the top-scoring American fighter pilot, scored his victories on the type. The J version had revised engine nacelles with the intercoolers beneath the propellers. The mask shapes follow the clear parts of the Tamiya P-38J Lightning kit in 1/48 scale.
