The Curtiss P-40 Warhawk was a rugged and reliable fighter aircraft that served on many World War II battlefields. The P-40N version, introduced in 1943, was the lightest and most powerful variant of the entire line, with a lightweight design, redesigned cockpit cover and improved flight characteristics. These modifications increased the speed and range of the machine.
The USAAF's 49th Fighter Group deployed the P-40N in combat against Japanese forces in New Guinea, the Philippines, and other Pacific theaters. Its pilots achieved many aerial victories, and among them were a number of fighter aces whose machines became the model for unique markings.
The 1/48th scale Hobby 2000 kit uses high quality plastic parts with fine engraving and includes decals for several machines piloted by the aces of the 49th Fighter Group. It offers the opportunity to build a model with the authentic look of the aircraft that made history in Pacific air combat.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
