The Hobby 2000 1/72 F-8E Crusader "MiG Killers" is an American Vietnam War era fighter aircraft, famous for its successes against MiGs. The kit includes detailed parts, authentic decals and markings of the machines with confirmed kills. The package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
The Vought F-8 Crusader, nicknamed "The Last of the Gunfighters", was the last American fighter aircraft to retain guns as its main armament. The F-8E version, introduced in the early 1960s, featured upgraded avionics, AN/APQ-94 radar, expanded capability to carry AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, and increased capability to engage ground targets.
During the Vietnam War, the F-8E proved itself as both a fighter and attack aircraft. With its speed and agility, it was able to effectively counter North Vietnamese MiGs and became known as the "MiG Killer". U.S. Navy pilots scored a number of kills on this type, reinforcing its reputation as a dangerous adversary.
The 1/72nd scale Hobby 2000 kit features detailed plastic parts with fine engraving, decals for markings of the machines with confirmed MiG kills, and a faithful rendition of the F-8E version. The model is suitable for modellers interested in fighter aircraft and Cold War air combat.
Package does not include paint or glue needed for assembly.
