1/72 F4U-1 Corsair "Birdcage" headrest type A
Brand: AIRES

The Vought F4U Corsair was one of the most successful and best known fighter aircraft of the US Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. It featured an inverted gull wing, which allowed for a shorter undercarriage while maintaining sufficientand a powerful Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp engine, the Corsair became a formidable adversary for Japanese fighters in the Pacific theater. An early variant of the F4U-1, nicknamed the "Birdcage" because of its distinctive cockpit framing with many pillars and smaller windows, represented the first production version of this aircraft. This cockpit configuration provided sufficient protection for the pilot, but at the same time limited the view, which led to later modifications in subsequent versions.

The 1:72 scale Aires add-on focuses on one of the less visible but historically accurate cockpit details - the Type A pilot's headrest. The original plastic parts in kits often simplify the shape and structure of these components, while the resin replacement part offers finer articulation, more accurate shape and better proportions to match the actual model. For modelers building an open cockpit Corsair or planning a detailed interior, this add-on greatly improves the overall feel and authenticity of the model.

Working with resin requires care when removing casting blocks, cleaning the surface and bonding with special adhesives suitable for this material (such as instant adhesives or epoxies). It is advisable to inspect the part before installation, or sand it lightly for a perfect fit in the kit. Painting can be done with acrylic or enamel paints; for the headrest, the cockpit interior paint (typically shades of grey) is usually used.ed or green depending on the specific machine and period), with a subtle highlighting of details with dry brush or oil paints. The package does not include the paint or adhesives needed for assembly.
