1/72 Mirage 2000N with ASMP cruise missile

The Dassault Mirage 2000N is one of the most significant aircraft types in the French Air Force and represents a specialised strike variant of the successful Mirage 2000 fighter family. The letter ‘N’ in the designation refers to the word ‘nucléaire’ — as this two-seater version was designed from the outset to carry the ASMP (Air-Sol Moyenne Portée) nuclear missile, making it a key component of the air arm of the French nuclear forces for many years. Compared to the basic versions, the Mirage 2000N features a reinforced structure for high-speed flight at low altitudes, modified avionics and systems enabling it to penetrate enemy air defences. The crew consists of a pilot and a navigator/weapons systems operator, which enhances the aircraft’s ability to carry out demanding strike missions. In addition to its nuclear role, the aircraft gradually gained the capability to carry conventional armament, including guided bombs, and was thus deployed in a number of overseas operations.

The kit also includes painting masks for the cockpit and wheels, which facilitate clean and precise painting of the glazing and tyres.

The included armament is also extensive, allowing the aircraft to be assembled in various combat configurations. In addition to the distinctive ASMP missile, the set includes 2× 2,000-litre auxiliary fuel tanks to extend the range, 2× ‘Magic II’ short-range air-to-air missiles, 2 × ‘Mica’ missiles and 2 × GBU-12 guided bombs for precision strikes against ground targets. Modellers can therefore choose between a typical nuclear strike configuration and a variant for conventional deployment. The enclosed A4-sized colour instruction sheet provides a clear guide through the entire assembly process. The pack does not contain the paints or adhesives required for assembly.
