The Supermarine Spitfire was produced in a number of variants from the beginning of the Second World War, among which the Photo Reconnaissance (PR) version played an important role. These machines were often converted from fighter versions and modified to allow them to fly longer distances and carry photo equipment. After April 1940, additional cockpit armour became standard on these aircraft to increase pilot protection during risky missions over occupied territory.
The 1/72nd scale IBG add-on kit features a detailed cockpit liner with realistic texture and reinforcedarmouring to match real machines from the post-April 1940 period. The accurate design allows for easy installation into Spitfire models and provides modelers with the ability to achieve greater historical fidelity. This add-on is ideal for building reconnaissance versions of the Spitfire, but will also find use in other variants that have been modified to the same standards.
The package does not include the paint or glue needed for assembly.
