Academy 12618 - USAF B-47 (1:144)

Academy presents the Boeing B-47 Stratojet in 1:144 scale as a plastic kit of one of the USAF’s defining early jet bombers. This six-engine strategic bomber grew from a 1943 USAAF requirement, the XB-47 prototype first flew on 17 December 1947, and from 1951 the type entered Strategic Air Command service, becoming a mainstay of the bomber force by the end of the 1950s.

The main attraction of this release is its variant coverage. It can be built as a B-47B, B-47E, B-47B-II or reconnaissance RB-47H. In this context, the B-47B-II represents B-47B aircraft updated to B-47E standard.

Optional parts cover the different noses used by the versions, alternative wingtips, RATO arrangements, ventral radomes and different tail configurations. The RB-47H-specific bulged fuselage sections are also included. The kit also provides a one-piece clear canopy and basic front and rear cockpit detail.

The Cartograf decal sheet provides markings for 11 USAF aircraft from 305th BW(M), 306th BW(M), 22nd BW(M), 320th BW(M) and 55th SRW units, spanning the 1950s through 1967. Plastic parts, decals and instructions are included; glue and paints must be purchased separately.
