AK Acrylics 3GEN Aircraft Series Deep Sea Blue (17 ml)
AK Interactive AK11864 Deep Sea Blue is an acrylic paint from the 3GEN Aircraft Series (18 ml). From 1944 until the mid-1950s, Deep Sea Blue was the overall colour of US Navy carrier aircraft.
In mid-March 1944, US Navy fighters were ordered to be painted Deep Sea Blue overall, and in June 1944 (effectively October) the order was extended to all carrier-based aircraft. According to AK Interactive, it remained valid until the mid-1950s, when the Navy adopted Light Gull Grey and Insignia White.
The manufacturer offers the colour in three sets: AK11729 WWII US Navy & USMC Aircraft Colors, AK11730 WWII US Navy & USMC Aircraft Late War Colors (for the F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat and TBF Avenger, among others) and AK11745 US Navy & USMC Aircraft Colors 1945-1980. It is a third-generation (3GEN) acrylic for brush and airbrush with high pigmentation and coverage, in an 18 ml bottle.
