AK Pigments PIGMENT FIXER
AK Interactive AK048 Pigment Fixer (35 ml) is an enamel fixative for permanently securing dry modeling pigments to models, figures, bases, and dioramas. Volume: 35 ml.
AK Interactive AK048 Pigment Fixer (35 ml) is used to firmly fix powdered pigments without the need to cover them with varnish. Its low viscosity allows the fixer to rise through the pigment via capillary action. Once dry, the pigment remains adhered to the surface and returns to a color closer to its original dry state.
Fixing Pigment to the Model
- First, apply the pigment dry and shape the desired layers, transitions, and patterns.
- Moisten a clean brush with the fixer and lightly touch the edge of the pigment. The liquid will spread on its own through capillary action.
- Avoid unnecessary brushing over the wet pigment so as not to disrupt the desired effect. If necessary, add fixer from another edge.
- Let it dry completely. The pigment will temporarily darken when moistened; once dry, it will return to its original dry shade.
Creating Paste and Layers
The fixer can be mixed with the pigment off the model. A thinner mixture will create runs and streaks, while a thicker paste is suitable for deposits on the undercarriage, tracks, terrain, and bases. Adjust the ratio gradually and test the result on a test surface first.
