Information about the original:
Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany in September 1939, and this act of military aggression sparked World War II. In the wake of the devastation caused by both this attack and the subsequent Soviet counteroffensive during 1944 and 1945, many important buildings were left in ruins. This damaged bank building is a typical example illustrating the consequences of one of the greatest tragedies in modern history.
