Italeri 6550 and the Fiat 508 CM Coloniale
Italeri 6550 presents the Fiat 508 CM Coloniale as a 1:35 plastic kit. The Fiat 508 “Balilla” was one of Italy’s most popular cars of the 1930s, and in June 1937 the updated 508C appeared with a 1,100 cc four-cylinder engine that also became the basis for this military derivative intended for service in the Italian colonies.
Service in North Africa
The “Coloniale” version used two-wheel drive, measured 3.6 metres in length and produced 32 hp, enough for a top speed of 90 km/h. In North Africa it was employed chiefly for officers’ transport and for headquarters duties. Larger tyres, sturdy construction and reliable mechanics also made it suitable for advanced reconnaissance work in off-road terrain.
What is in the box
The kit contains one model, decals for three versions, two alternative figures and a colour instruction sheet. The figures broaden the options for a compact North Africa vignette or an Italian headquarters support scene.
