The original vehicle
The Opel Blitz medium truck was used by the German army on all fronts of the Second World War. Besides standard transport versions, it also appeared in specialised forms such as anti-aircraft platforms, tankers, workshop vehicles and rescue vehicles. The Kfz. 305 ambulance variant shows how broadly this type was employed. Its sturdy construction, modest maintenance needs and good off-road mobility made it valuable in the demanding conditions of Russia and Africa.
