The North American P-51B Mustang was a key fighter aircraft of the US Air Force during World War II. A version with a "Malcolm" cockpit overlay, originally developed by the British firm R Malcolm & Co for the Spitfire, was modified for the P-51B/C to give pilots a better view to the rear due to its convex shape and sliding mechanism. This modification greatly improved the combat capabilities of the aircraft and was popular with pilots in both the European and Pacific theatres.
