The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia was a key British fighter aircraft during the Battle of Britain in 1940. This variant was equipped with a Rolls-Royce Merlin III engine and an eight-round Browning machine gun armament, giving it excellent manoeuvrability and firepower against German aircraft.
