Tamiya 61017 Nakajima A6M2-N (Rufe) in 1/48 scale captures a unique float version of the Japanese fighterA6M2 Zero aircraft that has been modified for operations from water surfaces and forward naval bases. The development of this aircraft was in response to the need for mobile fighter cover for island bases and lagoons where conventional airfields could not be built.
The A6M2-N, manufactured by Nakajima, retained much of the flight characteristics of the original Zero, but withbut the additional centre float and stabilising struts increased weight and reduced top speed.
