Apply the medium with a brush or airbrush between the base color—which should be visible through the chipping—and the top coat of paint. After the topcoat has dried, moisten the surface with water and carefully scratch it with a brush or suitable tool. Work on small areas and build up the effect gradually so that the scuffs correspond to areas that have actually been worn down.
Recommended procedure
- Apply a base metallic, rust, or primer shade and let it dry thoroughly,
- apply a continuous thin layer of Chipping Media, and once dry, apply the topcoat,
- Use water to activate only the areas you want to chip, and check the effect in small increments.
