Obsidian Holt highlights details on armour, weapons and mechanical parts, and the manufacturer recommends it for dark army miniatures. Over bright colours such as red, blue or green it adds definition by slightly dulling the colour without changing its hue.

The pigments of AK Acrylic Washes settle into recesses and create natural shadows. According to the manufacturer the wash is odourless and dries slowly to a matt finish, leaving time to work the effect; the bottle contains 18 ml.
