MR.Hobby AMMO MIG YAKUMO WWII Afrika Korps Set offers modelers a specially developed set of enamel and pigment products that faithfully replicate the wear, fading and soiling typical of equipment deployed in the extreme conditions of North Africa (1941-1943).

🏜️ Historical Context and Purpose of the Kit

Afrika Korps vehicles, led by General Rommel, operated in desert areas where the equipment was constantly exposed:

• Intense sunlight: Which caused the camouflage colors (e.g., Gelbbraun/yellow-brown and Grau/gray) to fade.

• Fine Sand and Dust: Which settled in every crease and on every surface.

This set is designed to simulate just these light, burnt and dry effects:

• Sand Dust: The washes and pigments in the kit are mixed in light, sandy and ochre tones that exactly match the color of Saharan sand.

• Fading.

🧪 Kit Contents and Product Characteristics

The YAKUMO system for Afrika Korps contains four basic products for comprehensive desert patination:

1. DESERT DUST WASH (Enamel): a special enamel wash in a sand/ochre tone to highlight details, joints and mouldings. Ideal for use over basic desert paints (e.g. RAL 8000/8020).

2. DESERT STREAKING GRIME (Enamel): An enamel product to simulate run-off grime created by mixing dust and condensed moisture, but in a lighter tone than European fronts.

3. SAND DRY MUD (Enamel): enamel paint to create the effect of dried, light-colored mud that accumulated on the chassis during sporadic rain or oases.

4. SAHARA DUST (Pigment): A fine, light pigment that is indispensable for the final texture. It is applied to create deposits of fine Sahara sand on horizontal surfaces, chassis and wheels.
