1/72 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.IV Pacific battlefield RAAF part II
ASK 1/72 Curtiss Kittyhawk Mk.IV part II is a decal sheet for Australian Kittyhawk Mk.IVs (P-40N) of Nos. 75 and 78 Squadrons RAAF at Noemfoor, Tarakan and Morotai, including two versions of “Hep Cat”.
This 1/72 ASK decal sheet offers four marking options for olive drab Kittyhawk Mk.IVs. A29-572 (HU-P), with a pin-up and “Lucky 13”, belonged to No. 78 Squadron on Noemfoor Island. A29-1042 (GA-R) served with No. 75 Squadron at Tarakan, Borneo, in 1945. Two options show A29-1021 (GA-G) of No. 75 Squadron commander S/Ldr Clive Gardiner Tolhurst at Morotai, 1945 – with a yellow and a blue background to the “Hep Cat” emblem.
Kittyhawk Mk.IV was the British and Australian name for the P-40N, the most numerous P-40 version. Australian squadrons flew it in the final phase of the war in the South West Pacific. The sheet follows part I (200-D72006); more Mk.IVs are in part III (200-D72008).
