1/35 Iraqi T-55 Al Faw/Enigma. Polish Made Base
MiniArt 1/35 Iraqi T-55 Al Faw/Enigma is a detailed 1/35th scale model construction kit of the iconic Iraqi variant of the Soviet T-55 tank. This version, often unofficially called "Enigma", was created before the Gulf War by modifying tanks with additionalarmour plating to make the tanks more resistant to modern anti-tank weapons. The kit is based on the Polish production version of the T-55 and offers a wealth of detail, including faithful renditions of theof the additional armour, equipment and characteristic design features of the Iraqi machines.
The T-55 was one of the most widely used tanks of the Cold War, with many countries developing various modernization programs tailored to local needs. Iraq during the 1980s. during the 1980s, Iraq modified some of its T-55s by adding layered additional armour to the turret and front of the hull to increase their survivability on the modern battlefield. These machines, known unofficially as "Enigma", were deployed during the 1991 Gulf War. Despite their improvised origins, they represented an interesting example of an effort to match the increasing power of Western anti-tank systems. The MiniArt model depicts a variant built on the Polish production base of the T-55, which differed, for example, in casting details, equipment and some design features.
