Italeri JAS-39D Gripen Twin Seater is a 1:48 plastic kit of the two-seat version of Sweden’s multirole fighter. Developed for advanced pilot training, the JAS-39D retained the performance of the single-seat aircraft while adding the flexibility to undertake reconnaissance and ground-attack missions. The box includes decals for 4 versions, a color instruction sheet, and the finished model measures 30.3 cm. Figure not included.
Italeri JAS-39D Gripen Twin Seater depicts the twin-seat version of the Saab JAS 39 Gripen, which entered service in the second half of the 1990s as a significant step forward from the Saab 37 Viggen.
The JAS-39D was developed for advanced pilot training, but it was not limited to that role. It retained essentially the same performance as the single-seat fighter while offering greater operational flexibility, allowing it to carry out reconnaissance and ground-attack missions. The type is also noted for excellent maneuverability and a top speed of Mach 2.0.
