1/72 Diamond T 969 Wrecker - Softcab
IBG 1/72 Diamond T 969 Wrecker - Softcab is a 1/72 scale plastic kit of an American WWII heavy towing vehicle. The model depicts the canvas cab variant used in field repair and salvage work.
The Diamond T 969 Wrecker was developed from the rugged chassis of the Diamond T 4-ton 6x6 truck and formed the backbone of US Army recovery units from 1941. The machine was equipped with a powerful winch, a Holmes Twin Boom slewing crane and a wide range of toolswhich allowed damaged or bogged down vehicles to be recovered in combat conditions.
The Softcab variant featured a canvas roof and single cab, which was quicker to produce and better suited to the needs of field deployment. Vehicles of this type were deployed in Europe, North Africa and the Pacific Islands and remained in service after the war ended.
