AK Enamel effects NEUTRAL GREY FILTER

AK Interactive AK4161 Neutral Grey Filter (35 ml) is a translucent enamel filter designed to subtly alter the base color tone. This specific variant is designed for very light and white surfaces. It is intended for winter vehicles, spacecraft, light-colored aircraft, UN vehicles, and other white or very light surfaces, to which it adds a subtle depth.

This filter is not a wash. A wash concentrates in seams and recesses, while a filter is applied in minimal quantities over a larger area. It helps break up the monotony of single-color camouflage, harmonize multiple shades, or color-code selected panels without obscuring the base coat or fine details.

Recommended Procedure

1. Shake the bottle thoroughly. The surface must be completely dry, painted, and varnished; the manufacturer particularly recommends a satin finish.
2. Simply dampen a flat, soft brush with the filter. The brush should not be so saturated that the product drips from it.
3. Spread the filter into a very thin, even layer without puddles or flooding the details. Blend the strokes smoothly so that no sharp patches form after drying.
4. To achieve a uniform overall look, cover the entire surface; for color variation, work only on selected panels or areas.
5. Let the layer dry completely before assessing the final shade. Build up the intensity with additional thin layers, not a single thick application.

Practical tip: On white paint, even a small amount can cause a noticeable change in tone; therefore, test the filter first on a less conspicuous area.

The filter can be thinned, adjusted, or removed using AK Interactive White Spirit 35 ml. For finer work, AK Interactive Odorless Thinner 35 ml is recommended.
