Legio Custodes: Shield Captain

The Shield Captain represents one of the highest commanders of the Legio Custodes - the elite guard of the Emperor of Mankind during the era of the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. The Custodians are genetically enhanced warriors whose combat abilities far surpass even the Space Marines. Each Custodian is a masterpiece of genetic engineering, and the Shield Captain is among the most capable of these legendary defenders of the Terran Palace.

The model captures the typical hallmarks of the Legio Custodes - ornate armor covered in fine filigree work, engraved iconographic symbols, and ornamental decoration that reflects the prestigious status of these warriors. The Shield Captain is armed with a praesidium shield and the eternity blade, which serves not only as a deadly weapon but also as a symbol of command status. This combination of weaponry allows for both the offensive and defensive fighting styles characteristic of the Custodian Guard.

The kit offers a choice between two heads - a helmeted version to emphasize the ceremonial and combat side of the Custodians, or a head without helmet, which allows to display the individual features of the commander and add a personal touch to the model. This variation provides scope for personalisation and creating a unique commander for your army.

The model can also be used as a Tribune - an even higher command position in the Legio Custodes hierarchy, respected by all Custodians. The Tribune commands entire contingents of golden warriors, and their decisions impact the defense of Terra itself.

The figure is designed at a scale standard for Warhammer: The Horus Heresy and its detail makes it both challenging and rewarding for the painter - from the golden areas of the armour to the red cloak details to the fine engravings and symbols, it requires precise paint work and techniques such as edge highlighting, washing or NMM (non-metallic metal). The model is suitable for game use in Legio Custodes armies, as well as a stand-alone painting project or a showcase exhibit.

The package includes 24 plastic components, one Citadel 40mm round base and building instructions. Paint and glue are not included. Citadel Tools Super Fine Detail Cutters, Warhammer Colour Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints are recommended for assembly.
