Information about the original:
The Fiat 131 Abarth was based on a two-door sedan from Fiat. The modifications made by Abarth included a number of changes and improvements, such as a lighter chassis, larger fenders, and new air intakes on the hood and sides to optimize mechanical cooling. It was powered by a longitudinally mounted four-cylinder engine with a light-alloy cylinder head and four valves per cylinder. The Fiat 131 Abarth was produced starting in 1976 and competed in the World Rally Championship, where it won three Constructors’ Cups, one FIA Drivers’ Cup, and one drivers’ title. It competed in international events until 1982, when it was replaced by Lancia cars. Some of its body color schemes, associated with the typical sponsors of the time, have become iconic in the history of rally racing.
