This plastic kit depicts the Italian self-propelled gun developed from the L6/40 light tank. For this version, the turret was removed and replaced by an open casemate armed with the 47/32 Mod.1935 gun, similar to the weapon used on M-series tanks. The conversion turned a very small chassis into an armoured vehicle intended for direct fire support and anti-tank duties.
The real vehicle in service
The Semovente L40 was notable for its compact dimensions, plate-and-riveted armour, and a crew of only two. It remained in wartime use with Italian forces in Libya, Tunisia, and Italy itself. After the armistice, some vehicles continued in secondary roles with Wehrmacht and Luftwaffe support units.
What the kit includes
In 1:35 scale, the completed model measures 109 mm in length. The box includes decals for 4 versions, photo-etched parts, acetate parts, and tracks made from individual links and connectors.
