This texture is incredibly versatile. It is suitable for extremely arid volcanic terrains as well as for displaying very fertile and forested soils, where the dark colour indicates the richness of the humus. And if you're building a fantasy model, it's the perfect base for dark, inhospitable landscapes - just add some bones and fog and you're done! The fine grain is great for all scales and is excellent for combining with other, lighter pigments to achieve dusty effects.

Key geological stability (How to anchor volcanic dust)

Remember that this fine volcanic dust is loose and would spread all over your modeling corner without help. To create a solid and permanent terrain that will retain its matte finish, it is crucial to use a fixing medium. Load the granulate, gently shape the terrain and then slowly, by capillary action, saturate it with a suitable fixative for loose materials. This will ensure that your volcanic base remains stable and ready for any further detailing.
