Vallejo Model Wash 76505 Light Rust Wash (35ml)
Vallejo Wash FX 76505 Light Rust (35 ml) is a light rust wash from the Vallejo Wash FX series. This water-soluble wash highlights seams, panel lines, and fine details, helping to create a natural patina on your model.
Vallejo Wash FX 76505 Light Rust (35 ml) is a Vallejo Wash FX acrylic wash in a light rust shade. It is suitable for highlighting rusty joints, welds, screws, damaged edges, exhaust pipes, and areas where oxidation and dirt naturally accumulate.
Apply the wash selectively to joints, around screws and welds, and to areas with damaged paint. For realistic rust, combine multiple shades ranging from light to dark, and gently wipe away any excess with a clean, damp brush.
Technical Information and Recommendations
- Type: water-based acrylic wash with a matte finish
- Volume: 35 ml
- Uses: panel lines, rivets, seams, shadows, dust, rust, grime, and operational patina
- Application: fine brush; apply locally to joints or as a thin layer as a filter
- Surface: Best controlled on a satin or glossier surface; absorbs more on a matte surface
- Adjusting intensity: clean, damp brush; water; or, use Airbrush Thinner 71161 sparingly
- Previous layers: Model Color, Model Air, or Surface Primer
- Additional patina: Weathering FX, pigments, and Diorama FX
- Sealing: matte varnish or satin varnish depending on the desired finish
- Tools: model-making brushes
It is best to apply the wash in stages. A single thick layer often creates streaks, while multiple thinner layers allow for better control over contrast, dirt, and the resulting depth of detail. For a cleaner finish, it is advisable to protect the model with a satin or gloss varnish before applying the wash.
