The Vallejo True Metallic Metal (TMM) line is the result of extensive development aimed at offering modelers and miniaturists metallic acrylic paints that closely resemble the appearance of real metal. Forget about graininess and artificial sheen. These paints use real metallic pigments with extremely fine grain, ensuring a smooth finish, excellent coverage, and a realistic, scale-accurate sheen. They’re perfect for detailing plastic model kits of airplanes, tanks, historical miniatures, and fantasy figures.

🎨 BSL System: Base, Shade, Light – a comprehensive solution for volume

A key feature of the TMM series is a sophisticated four-step system (BSL – Base, Shade, Light + Airbrush version), which makes it easy to create visual volume, depth, and contrast on metallic surfaces:

1. TMM Base: Primary metallic shades (steel, bronze, gold, etc.) that serve as the first layer. They offer balanced coverage and saturation.

2. TMM Light: The lightest and brightest shades for targeted lightening, highlighting edges, and the brightest highlights. They give the metal a realistic sheen.

3. TMM Shade: Darker, metallic shades with a subdued sheen. They function similarly to washes, creating shadows in recesses and giving the metal a patina and depth.

4. TMM Airbrush (Airbrush Version): Specially formulated paints with color tones identical to the BASE shades. They are optimized for viscosity and surface tension for direct use in an airbrush (recommended nozzle size: 0.3 mm; recommended pressure: approx. 1.5–2 Bar). Ideal for quick, even base coats on larger surfaces without visible brush strokes.
