Information about the original and the model:
From a student pilot’s perspective, the de Havilland Tiger Moth was a relatively stable aircraft that could be forgiven for a thing or two; it had few flaws and was generally forgiving of the occasional silly mistakes made by a novice pilot.
It quickly gained a reputation as an aircraft that was “easy to fly but difficult to control,” which apparently made it the ideal aircraft for the basic training of the large number of pilots who were to fly in operational missions during World War II.
At the start of the war, the RAF had about 500 Tiger Moths in service, but it requisitioned hundreds more from flying clubs across the country.
