AK Interactive AK10030 Streaking Dirt - Weathering Pencil is a model-making weathering pencil with a semi-greasy, water-based acrylic core, developed for plastic models, figures, dioramas, terrain, and wargaming miniatures. The manufacturer has designed this shade for depicting running dirt, maps, and vertical streaks of grime.
The pencil allows you to precisely draw scratches, edges, streaks, and drips, as well as create soft transitions. After application, the mark can be blended with a damp brush, lightened, or layered. It achieves the best adhesion and control on a matte surface; on satin or glossy surfaces, we recommend first testing its behavior in an inconspicuous area.
Recommended Procedure
- On a dry, matte surface, draw fine lines, dots, or irregular patterns according to the desired effect.
- For sharp scratches and edges, leave the mark dry. For drips and soft transitions, spread it with a clean brush lightly moistened with water.
- Build up the intensity in several thin layers. Once dry, the effect can be re-moistened, corrected, or partially removed.
- Once completely dry, the finished patina can be protected with a suitable model-making varnish.
